Today, Lazlow of Rockstar Games appeared on the Opie and Anthony show to discuss Grand Theft Auto IV, hitting stores next Tuesday (April 29). The boys asked him the very important question (that they did not believe he would answer):
“Will Grand Theft Auto IV be better on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360″
To which Lazlow responded:
“Xbox is the way to go on this one”
He then commented on the fact that Mission Pack downloads are already in the works for Xbox 360 (exclusively). These will include added missions (hence the name!) as well as much more content to add to the game’s play value.
So, sorry to all you hardcore PS3 fans, but this one is coming from a writer/producer of the game. I’m sure the game is still going to be great on either console, though.
On another note, Lazlow also commented on GTA IV saying that the game will take anywhere from 80 to 100 hours to play through, which is rare among so many 10-15 hour titles these days. But he also said the game has plenty of extras to keep you occupied for much longer, and we all know how much we love just driving around and causing trouble for no apparent reason. This is one game that is sure to be worth the price paid for it.

Please. This guy’s so in Microsoft’s pocket right now. If XBOX were the better system, Microsoft wouldn’t have had to pay the obscene amount of money they did to get exclusive content. And added missions? To a 100 hour game? Who the hell plays GTA for the missions anyway, except to unlock new game elements? What a joke. Eat a fat one, Lazlow.

Unfortunately, this is how business works. Regardless of which system is the better system, money talks. Rockstar isn’t in this business to provide exclusive content to the best system, they are there to make money. And up until this release, Sony has always been the highest bidder when it came to GTA, just this time Microsoft decided they wanted it and they got it (which actually surprised me).
Me, personally, I still play GTA Vice City on occasion and love it. As for which Lazlow’s statement, I could really care less which system I play it, since I never waste my money on the added content. I’ll probably flip a coin to decide which version to buy. I was just really surprised that someone as high up in Rockstar as Lazlow had the balls to make that statement on a nationally syndicated radio show.
